Before and After: The Final Photos of the Main Street Extension

As the grand opening of the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension approaches, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the incredible progress made. Back in the summer of 2020, KC Water was preparing to launch the Upgrades on Main initiative, laying the essential groundwork for what would become a transformative project. Now, in October 2025, we’re proud to witness the results of years of careful planning, collaboration, and community commitment. This milestone would not have been possible without the strong partnership between the City of Kansas City, the KC Streetcar Authority, and the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) and the support and patience of the community working together to deliver a more connected future for our region.
