π§ Traffic Changes Ahead! π§
Beginning Thursday, March 23 traffic is shifting to the west side of Main Street from 31st Street to 34th Street
On Thursday, March 23, KC Streetcar Constructors will begin underground electrical work on the east side of Main Street between 31st Street and Linwood Boulevard. This work will necessitate traffic pattern changes for the traveling public - all vehicular traffic will be shifted to the west side of Main Street from 31st Street to 34th Street.
The traffic changes are to accommodate initial electrical work for the future Traction Power Substation on East 31st Terrace which will help power the streetcar. Traffic control will go up Thursday, March 23 and crews will begin work on Friday, March 24. Temporary lane markings and traffic cones will be in place to help drivers navigate the new work zone. This first phase of work is anticipated to take three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Once the electrical conduit, vaults, and duct bank are installed, crews will begin track work on the east side of Main Street starting near the intersection of 31st Street and Main Street and working their way south to Armour Boulevard.
Below you will find maps for vehicular and pedestrian traffic in this area.
