Traffic Changes Begin in River Market This Week

Traffic changes will start at Oak Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets to accommodate construction deliveries.

 
 

WHAT: Traffic changes along 2nd Street and Oak Street between 3rd Street and Grand Boulevard in the River Market neighborhood. Detour signs will be placed near the delivery zones to direct traffic.


WHY: To accommodate the safe delivery of materials and construction equipment to the KC Streetcar Kite E. Singleton Maintenance Yard for the facility expansion. Existing Ride KC bus routes will be maintained. People may encounter short delays at the intersection of 3rd and Oak Streets when construction deliveries take place. Deliveries are anticipated to arrive Mondays through Fridays, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 


WHO: KC Streetcar Constructors in conjunction with JE Dunn and their subcontractors. 


WHEN: Thursday, August 25, 2022 and lasting through the end of 2023. 


WHERE: Oak Street between 2nd Street and 3rd Street on the west side of Cold Storage Lofts:

  • Oak Street will be a one-way street southbound for those exiting the parking lot and on-street parking will not be allowed

  • 2nd Street will be closed to the public between Grand Boulevard / Berkley Parkway and Oak Street

  • The entrance to the parking lot on the northeast corner of 3rd Street and Grand Boulevard will be at Grand Boulevard

  • The entrance to the Cold Storage Lofts parking lot will be at 3rd Street
