KC Streetcar Constructors Shift to Early Morning Work Hours
Concrete crews will work in the early morning hours due to excessive heat
Kansas City, MO - The heat and rising temperatures are calling the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension construction crew into work earlier than scheduled.
Starting Friday, July 15, crews with the KC Streetcar Constructors will start shifting work hours to earlier in the morning to protect crews from the excessive heat. Construction will start as early as 3:30 a.m. on some days. Early morning construction will be limited to concrete work along the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension corridor and other types of work that are not loud or disruptive. The early work schedule is estimated to remain in place for the duration of the summer. Crews will continue to work on all other construction activities such as demolition, excavation, and grinding during regular daytime hours.
On early start days, KC Streetcar Constructors will monitor the decibel levels of all equipment being used in the work zone. Backup alarms on equipment will be switched to white noise to keep the activity as quiet as possible. In addition, crews will work to make sure lighting stays within the work zone so as not to disturb nearby residences and businesses.
This Friday, crews will be having an early start to pour concrete on Main Street between Pershing Road and 27th Street. To date, KC Streetcar Constructors have poured more than 1100 track feet of concrete.
